Staff at the Pentagon were ordered to shelter in place due to a hazardous-materials alert at the building, authorities said.
The monitoring system “detected an air quality issue necessitating precautionary measures,” a Pentagon spokesman said.
Staff were ordered to shelter in place, but normal operations have now resumed.
