Woohoo! Great to see @andrewmaths1.bsky.social on BlueSky! Looking forward to seeing some great Maths questions and resources shared on this platform! Do follow him! #Mathstoday #ALevelMaths
I really like @andrewmaths1.bsky.social insights and cannot wait to see more about what other countries do (in equivalent to the UK A Level)
#ALevelMaths
Thank you Jo!
Very honoured with the comments and reflections from my #mathsconf40 session.
The question that Jo highlighted was from an HKDSE Compulsory paper - a very useful source to find some more challenging but not necessarily accelerate the pace of learning for students.
As @mr-man-maths.bsky.social has covered International A-level Maths syllabi offered by Edexcel, Cambridge and Oxford AQA, I'd like to cover the local A-level syllabi that are taken in various countries just to see the differences in content and expectations.
This is part 1 of the series.
Having now done Paper 1 from A Level Further Maths #ALevelMaths, here's my Best Guess of topics to focus on for Paper 2 (Pearson Edexcel). Remember - topics from Paper 1 can still appear on Paper 2, so don't get caught out!
Looking through some alternative sources of questions that can be used for either Y12 and/or Y13, these source of questions came as a hidden gem.
Below is from June 2024 Edexcel IGCSE Further Pure
Definitely worth looking at - I've used a few for my Y12s!

A Level Further Maths starting tomorrow, and #ALevelMaths in a few weeks time, a reminder of the video checklists that I have produced:

This is specifically for Pearson Edexcel, but other exam boards still useful!
Having now completed Paper 1 from Edexcel #ALevelMaths, here's my Best Guess of topics (consisting of a video checklist) to focus on for Paper 2.
REMEMBER - topics from Paper 1 can still appear on Paper 2, so don't get caught out!

In #MathsToday Oxford Mathematics have opened school applications for the pilot of our new free GCSE Maths mentoring scheme aimed at getting pupils from grade 7 up to grade 8 or 9 (or equiv.), with Oxford students as mentors. Now we just need schools to sign up! www.maths.ox.ac.uk/outreach/oxf...
International A-level syllabi - Part 2
In the previous part we've briefly discussed HK, SG and Sri Lanka. Today we'll go on to Malaysia and Carribean.
This is just a brief introduction to international syllabi, inspired by @mr-man-maths.bsky.social's presentation at MathsConf.
