I still remember the insanity of some visitors from a small town who insisted on *driving* into the West End of London to see a play on a Saturday night (Obviously we missed the first half while they searched for somewhere to park)

I'm pleased somebody is looking at this. Even if we accept people in rural and suburban areas have no choice but to drive etc etc, it's not clear why people might expect to come into a city centre but carry on driving from place to place as though still out in the sticks

Interesting: a new study pre-registration describes work to measure the death and injury caused when people from rural and suburban areas come into cities and crash into pedestrians and cyclists while jay-driving (a word I think I've just invented, but it's actually perfect here given the etymology)
