Maybe an unpopular opinion but I do think life cycle assessment of e-bikes is very important and understanding what trips they replace is important. That's how we can accurately understand their environmental benefits and how they fit in the overall picture.

I think the question is, what do they replace? If an e-bike replaces a car (even for some trips), great! But if it’s just an expensive recreational bicycle, was it worth the lithium mining?
