Film interviews with Takahata subtitled into English are rare. Check out this wonderful addition to Ghibli scholarship!
Want to watch 20 years of asexual screen histories, all in one place, for free? Now you can! I'm delighted to announce my curated collection 'Asexuality on Screen' for the BFI Mediatheque is now available to be watched at the BFI Southbank in London. Come along and explore!
I've got so many stories to tell you about the history of manga, so many great creators and scholars for you to check out. You can join the livestream anywhere, or come along to Peckham next week. Everyone welcome, though famous locals (John Boyega, Susan Wokoma, many others!) are prob. too busy.

My fault for frequenting that site and relying on machine translation, but still... Now they're not even getting names right. Be alert!
I've just added what I believe is the only interview with Isao Takahata that ever went out on British TV to my animation research collection down at the BFI Mediatheque. Short, but significant.
This game looks gorgeous and I can't wait to see more of it... But it does make me wonder about the line between drawing inspiration and just flat-out copying.
Sad news, as this means that Studio Ghibli films will go back into rights limbo in the UK. But hopefully a new company will snap up the catalogue soon. deadline.com/2026/06/dann...
The entire Ghibli UK rights situation since StudioCanal dropped them has been insanely and unreasonably screwy
Only a week to go until I finally get to present the #HistoryofManga for #SeedTalks - should have happened on 3 March but I was otherwise engaged with the #NHS fixing my shoulder. If you can't get into London, it's livestreaming anywhere with internet. Tkts: tinyurl.com/2u9pcjfr
