Deux siècles d’existence! Il y a exactement deux siècles, Guillaume Ier, roi des Pays-Bas, signa le décret qui allait donner naissance à l’Observatoire. A l’origine, il ne s’agissait pas encore de l’Observatoire royal de Belgique. Et pour cause, la Belgique n’existait pas encore. Après la défaite de Napoléon à Waterloo en 1815, les territoires de ce qui sera plus tard notre pays ont été rattachés au royaume uni des Pays-Bas.
