Three observations, about Platner’s speech only:
1. He appeals to Mainers’ sense of place, a tactic Zohran Mamdani used to great effect in New York City last year.
2. He barely mentions party affiliation at all.
3. He attacks his opponent’s greatest strength, her inoffensiveness.
Whatever your view of Platner, if you have any interest at all in political rhetoric, you should watch his speech tonight.
