Like, I love Bayonetta as much as the next trans girl, but you barely have to think about the space she occupies.
It's about performing cool dancing moves without stopping. You flow dodges and attacks together like it's a solo cabaret performance.
It's awesome, but not at all fighting game adjacent.

People often say action games like Bayonetta and Devil May Cry are single player fighting games, but this never felt true to me.
As I see, cool combos aren't the main appeal of fighting games. It's the footsies, the spacing. It's knowing your kit very well and applying it with precision.
