US Black folk would prefer not to have guns. But because the 2nd amendment exists, and because cops are not effective at protecting Black people, many Black folk do own guns.
Northern Ireland has only ~2 gun deaths a year. But with US style gun laws, adjusted for population it would be 250 a year.
The second amendment can be hard to defend because when things are going even moderately all right, you do not need to own a gun
