I'm proud of my team who pulled together this week to do something I haven't seen much elsewhere, and address what it feels like to be part of a targeted group in a city where the far right is kicking off.
This is what the sky looked like in Gaza on the opening night of the World Cup. Samaa can't relax and enjoy watching a game with her family. She's awake all night with worry, trying to comfort them when bombs fall. Please help her if you can. chuffed.org/project/157569 #Gaza 🍉
@caseyexplosion.bsky.social @slimyswampghost.bsky.social Are you able to help Ahmad?
@caseyexplosion.bsky.social I know you've helped Souad before. Can you do so now? She's in a desperate situation.
For those of you unfamiliar with the term, the Sixties Scoop, which actually ran well into the 'eighties, was a policy of taking indigenous kids from their parents at the slightest excuse and adopting them out to white families in an attempt to erase their culture. In other words, genocide.

It's never easy to be the sole provider for a family, especially when there's illness to contend with - and it's all the more difficult when you're literally living among ruins in a land with a shattered economy. Ahmad is amazingly resilient but he can't do this on his own. He needs our help #Gaza 🍉
I've engaged with survivors of similar policies in Australia, Aotearoa, the US, Ireland and, yes, Scotland. Sometimes I suspect that the only countries once held by the British which don't have a record of this are those which have been clever enough to hide it to date.
I meant to share this piece a couple of days ago - my recent interview with Tasha Hubbard about her first fiction film, 'Meadowlarks', exploring the long term effects on indigenous 'Canadians' of being taken from their families in the Sixties Scoop. www.eyeforfilm.co.uk/feature/2026... 🎬
This is Souad, and little Omar, with everything they own. If they don't get $112 by the end of today, they will be out on the street, and they could lose all of it. They're both terrified by the war and their small room is their only sanctuary. Please help them. chuffed.org/project/soad #Gaza 🍉
