What makes Portmeirion unique?
I'll be exploring that question in my online talk on 17th June. The vision of its founder, Clough Williams-Ellis, was a determining factor. His use of colour, architectural salvage and carefully contrived views all make it stand out www.ticketsource.com/kathryn-ferry
one of our co-founders has been on the comedy circuit with Alex Horne and Harry Hill.
It also turns out she has a soft spot for a pebbly beach. Ouch.
Next month I'll be in #Gravesend to talk #seasidehistory as part of the Great British Holiday Summer Exhibition at St George's Arts Centre. If you're in the area do come and say hello!
This looks fab!
Fancy joining me for a virtual trip to 'The Biarritz of Wales' and the 'Welsh Riviera'? What about 'Barry-bados'?
On 10 June at 6.30pm I'll be doing an online talk about Welsh #seasidearchitecture for @c20cymru.bsky.social
Tickets available from secure.c20society.org.uk/Default.aspx...
Been in #morecambe today doing a spot of filming about the history of holiday making there. Great to see the #midlandhotel again and spot my #seaside100 book in the breakfast room at Broadwater Guest House
Looking forward to my online talk for @c20cymru.bsky.social this week. There is very little written about the Welsh seaside but it would make a great book if there are any publishers out there who fancy the idea!
I'll be focusing on architecture like this...

There are very few surviving interiors designed by #victorian architect Owen Jones so that at St Bartholomew's, Sutton Waldron is rather special. My article all about it is in this week's @countrylifemag.bsky.social
I appeared as a 'Theme of the Week' expert on the #HarryHillShow and the episode is out now!
It is all wonderfully bonkers and there is a lot of ham but I loved chatting to Harry and Alex Horne about the #britishseaside and its heritage.

Looking forward to @seasidenetwork.bsky.social conference next month. We have supported a lot of seaside regeneration projects over our 50 years - including venue Saltdean Lido! - so looking forward to sharing a few lessons. It's a great programme put together by @seasideferry.bsky.social!

We're looking forward to hearing about the #seaside projects supported by @archhfund.org.uk over the last 50 years with CEO Matthew Mckeague. He'll also be sharing funding insights so if you're involved with #regeneration on the coast you might want to join us on 26 June
