We believe that these proposals are cruel, inhumane, unnecessary, contradictory, not evidence-based and potentially unlawful.
Our thoughts are with all those affected, including communities who may be feeling frightened, targeted, or unsafe in the wake of these events.
⚠️ This will, in turn, result in increased risks of physical and psychological harm, exploitation and abuse for these already vulnerable groups.
The scenes in Belfast yesterday, Southampton last week, and more recently across Scotland have been deeply distressing to witness.
Events like these can have a profound impact on individuals and communities, particularly when they raise concerns about safety, dignity, and belonging.
📈 We believe that the overarching impact of Part 1 of these proposals, if implemented, will be an increase in children, young people and families facing poverty, destitution and ultimately street homelessness.
We call on the government and law enforcement agencies to take swift and decisive action to address and prevent far-right terror, and to provide support to communities at risk.
