you can still make non-ai Google searches your default search in whatever browser you're using. here are the steps I followed for my current browser, Vivaldi.
I was using it in Firefox for a couple of years, and just recently set it up for someone else in Chrome

to make non-ai searches the default, here's what I did:
Settings > search
Click the "+" icon at the bottom of the search engine editor
Type "udm14" in the "Name" field
In the URL field, paste in Google's udm14 search link
Scroll down in the Search Engine Editor panel
Click "Set as Default Search"
