Our new study discovered a way to make AML cancer cells behave more normal-like: they differentiate, lose stemness, and become easier to be detected and killed by immune cells—by changing RNA degradation in cancer cell mitochondria. www.nature.com/articles/s41... @uhnresearch.ca @uhn.ca

🚨 #NewPublication alert! A new @nature.com study from scientists at @pmresearch-uhn.bsky.social and @ox.ac.uk has discovered that human blood-forming stem cells can “remember” past inflammation—memory that may influence health and disease outcomes. 🔗 Read more: www.uhnresearch.ca/news/5-27-20...
Our Till & McCulloch Paper of the Year Award in Clinical Research honours the study led by Dr. Jennifer Knox that identified actionable pancreatic tumour mutations—for selecting suitable targeted therapies & chemotherapies in pancreatic cancer cases. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40929627/
The findings have helped support Ontario Health (Cancer Care Ontario) in expanding its Comprehensive Cancer Biomarker Testing Program in October 2025, to include testing a panel of genes for all patients in Ontario diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

Our Till & McCulloch Paper of the Year award in Translational Research recognizes Dr. Anastasia Tikhonova's study. It identified a new class of T-ALL correlating with a higher risk of poor treatment outcomes. This helps stratify patients & personalize treatments. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/39742502/

“People often come out of cancer with a very different lens. They think more about how they want to spend their time and who they want to spend it with,” says Dr. Jennifer Jones. Jennifer's research is reshaping life after cancer: www.uhnresearch.ca/news/5-29-20... www.youtube.com/watch?v=98Y4...
Our study found benefits to integrate lung biopsy for patients preparing for allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation. Lung biopsy diagnosis altered clinical management for 51% of the cases and led to improved care for patients: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/41992574/ @uhnresearch.ca @uhn.ca
A new study by @uhn.ca Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and University of Oxford identified a subset of blood stem cells that are shaped by past inflammatory events. These cells can accumulate with age and are linked to mutations with a higher risk of leukemia. www.nature.com/articles/s41...
