It’s muggy out there Florida … and across the entire Gulf region and southeast U.S. 🥵
But why? 🤔
Exceptional satellite view from space of sea breeze thunderstorms blossoming over Florida and the Tampa Bay area this Thursday afternoon.
The blue dot is the radar at the NWS office in Ruskin (near Sun City Center on the map). 📡⚡️
The top panel is reflectivity showing heavy downpours in thunderstorms.
The bottom panel is velocity. Red is air flowing away from the radar. Green is air flowing toward the radar.
Note the outflow/red color in the bottom panel depicting a rush of air flowing northward from the radar toward Riverview and Brandon where thunderstorms and lightning density increased.
