Our blogger finds insects to set your heart aflutter at a former quarry in East Yorkshire.

I led a @sorbynathissoc.bsky.social meeting to @yorkswildlife.bsky.social Potteric Carr yesterday. Primarily looking for invertebrates, but it was a bit windy, so not ideal. Still found a few things like this 6-belted Clearwing moth. And a few plants like this Fen Pondweed and Yellow Loosestrife.

Fabulous day at Yorkshire Wildlife Trust’s annual Puffin festival enjoying seabirds and seals and learning about whelks and sea caves. And a lovely wee boat trip to cap it all off 🙂 Great way to spend a #SuperSeabirdSunday @yorkswildlife.bsky.social #Seabirds

Yorkshire Wildlife Trust calls the Calderdale Energy Park proposals “poorly thought through” as it objects in principle to the development
Yorkshire Wildlife Trust supports the government’s target to reach net zero; however, it has significant concerns about the proposed wind farm on Walshaw Moor and the precedent it sets.
