i've seen lots of criticism of AI but one area that i never see people talk about is how fucking awful silent films are being treated on youtube in this era, with a deluge of uploads with awful AI colorization / interpolation / upscaling for pretty much any silent movie / footage you search for

i think the fetishization of realism over style in most forms of art in the past century is exhausting and stifles creativity, and i should probably be writing an essay of an actual blog post about it instead of trying to make a pithy comment here
We need more rich people with normal interests like "your movie sounds neat" instead of, like, white fertility rates.
This awful AI thumbnail is what set off this rant. That's not even close to what the movie or the monster in it actually look like.
I can comfortably skip out on the new Crazy Taxi, but imagining the next Sonic game needing AI to help generate ideas for reference has got me really scared. This shouldnβt be apart of the creative process at all. Even if just for the conceptual stage, I will 100% be loud about my disappointment.
