The AI bubble is already here feps-europe.eu/the-ai-bubbl...
On the heels of European Anthropic-Fable scare, the illustrious @frederike.bsky.social and I have a new piece out on the potential dangers on tethering the European AI sovereignty hopes on brilliance at the application layer. Happy to hear comments!
#AI policy everywhere uses "risk management (RM) frameworks". But that, @leevisaari.eurosky.social and I argue, creates blind spots: future AI harms that cannot be quantified and attributed to specific actors fall by the wayside. RM thus limits democratic control. www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....

I want to add something this morning. Watching the folks who are building open social - @seabass.bsky.social and @sherif.eurosky.social and the whole Eurosky team - is one of the genuinely inspiring stories in Europe right now. It's not easy to take territory from Big Tech. But we can, and we will.
The series, in partnership with the AI Now Institute, highlights how Europe’s AI market is deeply entangled with the ecosystems of dominant US players.

Germany's DeepL builds on AWS. France's Mistral builds with Nvidia. Sweden's Lovable just got a jump scare as Anthropic moved in to eat its lunch. That's the starting point of a new series we're launching with @leevisaari.eurosky.social @techpolicypress.bsky.social @ainowinstitute.bsky.social

Friends, I did it. I'm posting this from #Eurosky. 🚀🇪🇺♥️ I have not joined a beta test since *1997* - but for the sake of you all, and for a future of open social media that is Big Tech-free and fully European, I had a go. It's working fine. Watch this space!!
