I also wish YouTubers would knock it of with the fucking GenAI. I see a LOT of retro channels now using GenAI for thumbnails and inserts. I’ve challenged a couple. The answer is invariably “because I can’t do that myself”. OK, but you’ll be pissed when GenAI retro channels nick the bit you can do.
Also, while I risk “doing a Ballmer” – 500 bucks and it doesn't even have [fill in the blanks] – it does strike me that 500 bucks for an opinionated (and, frankly, quite ugly) flip phone is eye-poppingly staggering. I'm sure diehard fans will lap it up, but good grief.
The future we were promised appears to be what PF likes. Which is fine, I suppose. Opiated beats no opinion. But attempting to claim this is all for the good is incoherent. As Xodium says, the current stance is deeply problematic, especially when it comes to GenAI.
The new Commodore phone is incoherent. I suppose, for better or worse, what we're really seeing is a device based around what the current CEO personally wants and/or dislikes. So email is out but WhatsApp is fine?! (And I see he's still OK with GenAI, which is busy wrecking so, so much.)
