Last month, Hawaii passed a first-of-its-kind law blocking corporations from spending money in elections within the state. This fall, Montana could do the same. Yes, it is possible to end corporate influence in our politics. More of this.

I have long admired John Cavanagh’s tireless work for justice at @ips-dc.org, honored to be in conversation with him and the equally amazing Robin Broad this Thursday evening!

NEW: Trump is requesting $95 billion for more bombs and missiles for FY2027. A SINGLE Tomahawk missile ($2.6 million) could fund for a year: 296 public housing units, or 303 people receiving Medicaid, or 1,144 people receiving SNAP. Overspending on war means denying families basic needs. Enough.

NEW: The U.S. military's presence in Hawaiʻi has brought rising housing costs, extensive environmental damage, and a smaller economic boost than it has claimed. With military leases soon up for renewal, these realities can't be ignored. Our latest coalition report in the Honolulu Star-Advertiser:

NEW: Today, a minimum-wage earner in Oklahoma would need to work 93 hours/week — more than 2 full-time jobs(!) — to afford a market rate 1-bed apartment. Next week, a ballot measure could change this locally. But for a real fix, Congress must act. Gabriela Ramirez-Perez of @okpolicy.bsky.social:
The big tech employers of the gig economy — companies like Amazon and DoorDash — are using personal data to pay their workers unfair wages. We need more transparency, not exploitation packaged as “innovation.” Michael Huggins on @inequality.org
