Yesterday afternoon had a truly wonderful turnout for 17th century Scotland, with some really excellent new research. It was a real pleasure to see my colleagues show their stuff to the Aberdeen contingent.

Cromwell Captures Edinburgh ⚔️🏴
When Edinburgh surrendered to Cromwell after the Battle of Dunbar in 1650, the castle refused to follow. For months it remained the last major stronghold in the capital still flying the Scottish colours.
