After deploying our @innovasea.com #HR3 and tagging the pre-smolts, the season is well underway!
> 125 km of river mapped
> 72 millions of water temperature data
> water 🌡️ is really homogeneous
> median water 🌡️: 24.2°C, for salmon 🐟 is #hot 🔥
> some cold water patches but mainly > 20°C
> 3 potential "relative" #thermal refuges but, too hot

We've finished our project on #ThermalRefuges for Atlantic #salmon in the #Allier river in France.
🐟 #salmon body temperature depend on water temperature. 🔥When water temp increases, one of the first response is #behavioural #thermoregulation with individuals going to #thermal #refuges ❄️

In the Allier river, salmon have to achieve one of the longest migration in France to reach their spawning ground. So, they usually stop their migration in summer.
Aims of our project was notably to create a thermal map of the Allier and identify potential #thermal #refuges.
