One thing about “breaking into comics” is that unless you mean “I want to be so famous I never need to look for a gif and/or have full autonomy to do whatever I want and be paid for it,” you can do it right now. Just draw a comic and print it out. Get a table at a small local comic fest.

One thing about "breaking into comics" that I think a lot of creators need to process is that unless you mean is "I want to be so famous I never need to look for a gig and/or have full autonomy to do whatever I want and be paid for it" then it's a myth. It's always going to be a freelance hustle.
