We have seen the impact on our high streets with organised crime, antisocial behaviour & nationwide exposes on the disgusting targeting of children with vapes, with horror stories of children as young as 9 being given vapes & other young ppl being asked for sexual favours in exchange for vapes.

There is still a lot to do and I will be hosting events in Parliament this week raising once again my concerns again around the EHRC Code of Practice, and the increase in attacks on the LGBT+ community here in the UK and globally. (4/4)
I’m proud to have worked alongside activists and colleagues to help deliver real progress: increased compensation for LGBT+ veterans, anti-LGBT hate crime on an equal legal footing, plans for a trans-inclusive ban on conversion practices, and £21m for global LGBT rights. (3/4)
I'm pleased to see more action on the illicit trade in our high streets.
It is such a huge issue locally and that is why I held a roundtable with the Police and representatives from every Council just a couple of months ago.
We still have a long way to go to achieve true equality - especially when LGBT+ people, and particularly trans people, continue to face rising hate and the politics of division. (2/4)
Trading standards now have the powers to shut these shops down and keep them shut, I have written to the new Reform controlled Councils highlighting the report that came out of my roundtable and calling on them to use the new powers from Government to tackle the crime on our high streets.
We have seen councils struggle to close down shops & when they are shut down they reopen next door, as well as retailers reporting being harassed by criminals putting pressure on to sell illicit goods &customers being pushed to buy products without knowing they were illicit
We are seeing illicit trade destroy our high streets with 7 new vape shops opening for every pub closed
Great to join LGBT+ Labour activists in Parliament today with my good friend @Olivia Bailey MP, the Minister for Equalities, to mark Pride Month, celebrate the people who keep pushing our movement forward and commit to continue to fight the increase in hate we are seeing at the moment. (1/4)
