German soldiers advance through the sand dunes near Libau (today Liepāja in Latvia) on the Baltic coast. The Germans shelled the city on 2 August 1914 - the day after war was declared - and occupied the city on 7 May 1915 as a result of the Battle of Schaulen.

Lithuanian and Latvian are beautiful, challenging and extraordinarily interesting. Personally, I find vocabulary the most challenging aspect of these languages, with Latvian being slightly more accessible in this regard.
