Personal milestone: After ten years as an Amazon top-seller, my book "Why? 1,111 Answers to Everything" just received its 15,000th review, overwhelmingly positive except for a few gripes about too many references to evolution in a science-facts book published by National Geographic.
Quantity and quality combined in this papaya. It's so good! Has a hint of coconut flavor, even though this tree sprouted in our pineapple patch. We hereby name this variety the coconut papaya.

We grew some kind of mutant papaya the size of a bowling ball. Here is a pineapple, goose egg, and human hand for scale. The papaya is not ripe yet, but hopefully its quality is on par with its quantity. If not, the chickens will get quite a feast!
It was my partner's birthday so we went to the Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden, which was so picturesque and serene I feel like it was my birthday, too.
A year ago today we welcomed Dorothy and her baby filly Geordi to their forever home. They've bonded with their farm family. Their personalities have really come out. Volume up at the 43 second mark to hear Geordi root and toot.
