With Maja, the air felt lighter. For a few hours, the invisible weight on Penny’s shoulders simply vanished.
Thanks to her, Penny went along with the idea of going out that weekend and even managed to look through the racks and picture herself in the prettiest outfits without feeling guilty.
They’d known each other for a few months now, and yet this was their first time going out together.
They were both having a great time, and Maja was determined to get Penny out of the house more often.
When Maja suggested leaving Liam and Philip to their own devices for a week, Penny frowned.
She didn’t like the idea of abandoning them, but she realised she hated the idea of being indispensable even more.
What if she started by disappearing for just one night? It couldn’t do any harm...
Maja was confident and cheerful, and Penny admired her for that. She was the complete opposite.
She had a lot of admiration for her. If she hadn’t known, she would never have guessed that her friend had a baby just a few months old at home.
That evening at home, Liam returned from work, kissed her tenderly on the cheek, told her about his day at the bar, and asked her about hers. They put Elisabeth to bed and settled down to watch TV. An evening like so many others.
