[ He wouldn't finish his sentence, not before starting to space out. After a minute, he would shake his head and just laugh, forgetting what he was talking about. ]
[ Of course Sorcus was real! What was he even thinking?? ]
[ But then, he thought about it more. Wait, a stranger was in his room! And so he would promptly back away, but not by much. ]
Ack, I'm so sorry! I, uh...
[ He couldn't think of a good enough excuse for his behavior there. ] +
I'm doing fine! I was just... really fixated on this music box! I couldn't help it, you know? It has a really sweet melody!
[ He tried to smile and drive attention away from his predicament. He would show off the music to Sorcus, as if that would work to convince the other more. ]
Welllll, in my defense, the music box being so quiet was what got me really focused on it to begin with! It keeps the whispers of the demon in my walls much more quiet!
[ He spoke with full confidence, looking at one of the walls in his room. ] +
But I really am okay! I can assure you that a magnificent jester like myself could NEVER be less than okay! So you don't even have to worry about a thing!
[ He SOUNDED convincing, but with the context of his previous statement, it could not have been less convincing. ] +
[ He would bring his hand over, lightly pushing at Sorcus's shoulder. His eyes would widen and he would gasp, before hitting himself lightly over the head with a groan, as if it were the most ridiculous thing that could have happened to him. ] +
[ The persistence was getting Joey's attention more. He lifted his head up from the music box, staring blankly at the other, watching him speak. ]
[ He wasn't entirely sure still, but this looked to be a real person that was now sitting beside him... ] +
