1783 June 19: Friedrich Wilhelm Adam Ferdinand Serturner was born in Neuhaus, Germany. In 1805 Serturner, an assistant apothecary, discovered morphine, the active ingredient in laudanum. Serturner died 20 Feb 1841 tinyurl.com/y77sjebd #histmed #medicalhistory
