“I think there's lots of reason to hope,” said @yaleneuro.bsky.social Chair Stephen Strittmatter, MD, PhD, to @ctinsider.bsky.social. A Yale team of researchers secured a three-year grant to ramp up its research on how Parkinson’s impacts the brain and strategies to slow or prevent its progression.

Had a wonderful time discussing Parkinson's disease research at the World Parkinson's Congress 2026! PhD candidate @leah_harmon13 presented her work on synuclein and Multiple Systems Atrophy
Congratulations to Emilia Favuzzi for being a 2026 Beckman Young Investigator Awardee! 🧠🏆
A new @nature.com study from Rui Chang's lab uses lineage tracing, 3D imaging, single-cell transcriptomics, and genetic perturbations to show how organ-specific neural circuits are formed. They reveal that organs help shape their own nervous systems.

Nandy, Jadi, and Chang explain how the primate brain transforms social information into cooperative action in this short interview:

When an animal moves, their neurons' axons have to stretch and bend. How do these axons keep their integrity? In a new study, @yaleneuro.bsky.social's Shaul Yogev 🥼 uncovers how mechanical forces trigger an axonal response that maintains axon integrity and microtubule continuity.
Lipofuscin accumulates in the brain with age and neurodegeneration. But what is it, where does it come from, and where does it go? The @schandralab.bsky.social built a lipofuscin brain atlas and shed light on its composition.
How does the brain compile information to then make decisions? The @neuralnandy.bsky.social, Jadi, and @stevewcchang.bsky.social labs show that the brain uses the same conserved algorithm to make complex social decisions (such as to cooperate) as it does to make perceptual decisions.
Huge congratulations to Dr. Chandra and PhD Candidate Leah Harmon, whose thesis work forms the basis of this Blavatnik funded project!

Now in @cp-neuron.bsky.social: @yaleschoolofmed.bsky.social researchers were able to record hard-to-reach bipolar cells in retinas, allowing them to discover that information travels through the visual system in a more integrated manner than previously thought. 👁️💡

So honored to be named a 2026 #BYI. This recognition is especially meaningful as it supports a recent new direction in my lab @yaleneuro.bsky.social on how the cortex controls immune responses. Grateful to @beckman-foundation.bsky.social for their support, and congrats to all fellow awardees!
