Both the Nenana Ice Classic and the Yukon River at Dawson City are done for the year - May 4th and 5th respectively - a little later than trend would suggest (in line with very cold + snowy winter), but long term trends are still clear.

🌊 1960–2023: +2.06 mm/year 🌊 2005–2023: +3.94 mm/year What’s driving it? 43% thermal expansion 27% glacier melt 15% Greenland ice loss 12% Antarctica ice loss The biggest shift? We’re moving from ocean warming → to massive ice-sheet melt in Greenland & Antarctica. www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...
To see how important US science is, consider measurements of changes in ocean heat content. US data are ~53% of the total. Over half! But removing the US data is worse than randomly removing 80% of the total data, because unlike other countries, the US makes measurements everywhere. 🧪🌊
