17 June 1942 // Destroyer HMS Wild Swan was sunk in the Western Approaches by German aircraft which had mistaken nearby Spanish trawlers for a convoy. She shot down six aircraft before sinking. 31 of her crew died of exposure while awaiting rescue. (Imperial War Museum Q 58547) #RoyalNavy #WW2
