I don’t own many gadgets these days but the one I rely on most, my Mac, has suddenly taken to shutting down and demanding power even when still showing 60% charged. I suspect this means the battery is failing? My iPhone is playing up too, it switches off without warning. I can’t afford replacements!
BBC4 are re-showing the excellent Ken Burns series on Muhammad Ali. Even if you’re not interested in boxing, it’s a fascinating social documentary. Ali himself is mesmerising, of course. It’s hard to believe how young he was, seeing that level of self-possession.

Just realised I forgot to buy bread, but it’s so chilly and coming on to rain, by all accounts, that I don’t think I feel like going out again.
In better news, the dress I ordered actually fits and looks nice, so can someone put in a request for a return to summer clothes temperatures? (I knew I’d lost a little bit of weight but I was already preparing to send the dress back for the next size up as usual. And I don’t need to, so go me.)
And by “walk back from the post office” I mean sit on a bench and eat a Cadburys mini-roll while staring out to sea.
