okay LAST thing: listen AG i think these guys are doing just fine lmao authorsguild.org/news/new-aut...
print numbers pulled from: wordsrated.com/print-book-s...
okay also the AG survey notes a decline in average author income. but print book sales are pretty similar to what they were in 2009. rather than wondering where those profits are going, if it's not to authors, they're choosing to blame........public libraries. curious!
i know everybody got this out of their system yesterday but you can't be sure the horse is dead until you've kicked it a few extra times
the checkout limit on my kids' card is 75 items. they hit that number pretty often. the ability for young people to read freely, widely, and indulgently is like, one of the best things we ever built as a nation???
even if libraries caused readers to buy fewer books* it would be worth it, in order to live in the kind of society that produces readers and books. *they don't, and this survey doesn't successfully demonstrate that they do
sylvia townsend warner in 1926, foreseeing the type of author who would use AI:
my bad, apparently it got up to 8 cards?? lol. lmao. all i know is marta could punch through steel with her bare hands rn
