📣 new preprint multimodal atlas. Imaging + scRNA, 57M cells. 🧬🔬 Cells are complex dynamical systems — but most ways we measure them destroy them. We asked: how does live imaging compare to scRNA-seq, the field’s gold std? The answer surprised us 🧵 www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...
We profiled 1,000 gene KOs in A549 cells across three modalities: • Fluorescence imaging (39 live + 13 fixed markers) • Label-free phase imaging of the same live cells • scRNA-seq via CROP-seq >57M single cell images. >600k scRNA. 100% open. 2/n
TLDR: all modalities are super powerful at resolving cellular states. But phase imaging matches — and given enough cells, exceeds — the phenotypic resolution of both fluorescence and scRNA-seq. This lays the foundation for live-cell profiling of phenotypic trajectories. 🚀 3/n

Great news! @mariaingaramo.bsky.social 's company (Nonfiction Labs) made a remote-controlled antibody. Its binding turns on and off with a magnet. This is a HUGE step towards our dream of magnetically controlled drugs. Imagine a cancer drug that ONLY attacks the tumor, not the rest of your body.
