People pull out the list of supernatural creatures from the Denham Tracts because it may be the first print instance of the word "Hobbit," but I love this bit from the same page.
It resonates with what I feel like Middle-earth is--a VERY magical place, with every boulder and crossroads haunted.
More Denham Tracts. The most interesting thing about this list of fairies is that we don't know what a lot of the names on it refer to. The creatures that have known folklore behind them, I've drawn in warm colors. The names we can only speculate about, I've drawn in cool colors.
