I’ve not seen the reports, but the general briefing seems to be that there’s an expectation that Russia will attack a NATO country in the next 5 years
But that won’t happen if Ukraine successfully repels Russia’s invasion - surely that should be our main focus right now

It’s ludicrous that everyone accepts “defense spending needs to rise.” Why! What opponent are we supposed to be fighting where any fiscally plausible rise in spending makes a meaningful difference?
I think I’m in the annoy everyone camp.
Yes, defence spending needs to rise faster than the proposed timeline suggests but the vision set-out in the Defence Review is unrealistic and avoids hard choices. Plus defence procurement is still a mess and the MOD is often a financial blackhole.
