"There's real intimacy and real humanity in the soundtrack." Universal has unveiled a behind-the-scenes featurette for The Odyssey, this time introducing us to some of the first sounds from the score for the epic ancient Greek adventure. The 3 minute video shows composer Ludwig Göransson working on creating the score with a few other musicians. I won't be surprised if he wins another Oscar for this just like he did with Oppenheimer. He explains that Chris Nolan asked him to highlight two specific Greek instruments: the aulos and lyre. Nolan's take on Homer's iconic ancient Greek poem, The Odyssey is a mythic action thriller shot across the world – the entire film is shot on IMAX film cameras bringing this foundational saga to life grander than ever. The epic story follows Odysseus in his perilous, long journey home after the Trojan War, encountering Polyphemus, the Sirens, Circe, and eventually with his reunion with his wife, Penelope, on the island Ithaca. The movie stars Matt Damon as our hero Odysseus + a huge ensemble cast including Tom Holland as Telemachus, Anne Hathaway as Penelope, Charlize Theron, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong'o, Robert Pattinson, Jon Bernthal, & many others. I'm so excited to watch this movie on an IMAX screen, but just as excited to hear this next unique aural creation from Göransson. Only one month left to go now... // Continue Reading ›
"Where is the tuna?" Pixar has revealed the first look teaser trailer for their next new movie titled Gatto, a story following cats around Venice. Pixar's Gatto is the second feature made by Italian filmmaker Enrico Casarosa, best known for bringing us the wonderful Luca movie from Pixar a few years ago (still one of my faves). This next story is also set in Italy, but this time it's in Venice. Indebted to a local feline mob kingpin, a black cat named Nero finds himself forced to forge an unexpected friendship that may finally lead him to his purpose. Mark Ruffalo has joined the voice cast in the lead role as the scrappy black cat named Nero, and Laurence Fishburne will voice the ruthless mob boss cat Rocco. The teaser trailer introduces Nero and Rocco as they question another cat in a funny interrogation scene. No other voices have been confirmed yet. This will hit theaters starting March 2027 early next year. And I'm already looking forward to it! As a huge fan of Casarosa's Luca, I cannot wait to see his second Pixar film. Especially following these cute cats. // Continue Reading ›

"When I die, I'll take you to Hell with me!" AMC has revealed a new official trailer for the 4K re-release and celebration of the classic Japanese anime Ninja Scroll, originally released in 1993 in Japan. Set in the age of samurai during the Edo period of feudal Japan, written & directed by Yoshiaki Kawajiri, Ninja Scroll is now considered a truly seminal work in anime filmmaking. This premiered at Berlinale earlier this year and will be out in US theaters in October this fall – for just a few nights only. A vagabond swordsman is aided by a kunoichi and a spy in battling a demonic clan of killers led by a ghost from his past, bent on overthrowing the Tokugawa Shogunate. Featuring the voices of Emi Shinohara, Kôichi Yamadera, Takeshi Aono, Daisuke Gōri, Toshihiko Seki. This 4K restoration of Ninja Scroll was produced by AMC Global Media's Sentai under the supervision of Director Yoshiaki Kawajiri. The digital update was a painstaking restoration and remastering of the movie — a meticulous process that involved a 4K scan of the original 35mm negative, then repairing any damage and color correction. This is looking pristine! A must see big screen experience. // Continue Reading ›
"Couldn't live with each other, and they couldn't live without each other either." Subtext & Amblin Ent. have unveiled the official trailer for a documentary film titled Gregg Allman: The Music of My Soul, another music biopic doc looking back at the troubled life of a famous musician. 🎸 Set for a US release in theaters starting this month. Tracing rock musician Gregg Allman's journey from a childhood scarred by his father's murder to the heart of a generation-defining sound playing with the Allman Brothers Band, this tender film uses electrifying performances & archival recordings to reveal how his music, his headline-making marriage to Cher, and his restless pursuit of authenticity affirmed him not just as a rock legend, but as a lasting cultural force. Anchored by Gregg's gritty, emotive vocals, the Band's brotherhood, and never before seen interviews, the rock doc offers a profound portrait of Gregg Allman: a luminous figure whose life and songs mirror his struggles and salvation. The doc features appearances by Devon Allman, Galadrielle Allman, Chuck Leavell, Jaimo, Cher, and Jackson Browne. Another must watch doc for any classic rock fans. // Continue Reading ›

The truth will set us free. But will it really? Or is this just another nice platitude we all like to hear? We live in a very strange, post-truth era now, where the actual truth doesn't seem to matter much, and many people are instead obsessed entirely with believing whatever "truths" they prefer all because objective truths are too scary now (e.g. vaccines, climate change, etc). I'm not sure if Steven Spielberg doesn't know this, doesn't understand this, or doesn't know what to say or how to address this, because his new sci-fi film Disclosure Day is obsessed with discovering and unveiling the truth (about aliens) to the world in a time where doing this makes no difference anymore. He seems so lost in his own conspiracy theories and his faith about aliens being here on Earth, that he forgets to actually tell an interesting story with a meaningful message. He also forgets to actually make a movie that's about aliens at all. And most importantly, he seems to have forgotten to have anything actually worthwhile to say within this movie. The ending is blatant avoidance and massive cinematic fumble, even if the rest of the movie before is quite thrilling. Sorry Mr. Spielberg, but this ain't it. // Continue Reading ›
"Let me take care of you..." Independent Film Company has unveiled the official trailer for a peculiar indie film titled Night Nurse, a provocative and unsettling dark thriller taking us into the world of retirement home scammers. The film gets even more icky when a new nurse is seduced by one of the sneaky residents, who uses mind games to get into her head. This premiered at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and will be out to watch in very limited theaters starting in July this summer. Starring Cemre Paksoy as Eleni, Bruce McKenzie as Douglas, Eléonore Hendricks, Colleen Rose Trundy, & Mimi Rogers. IFC explains that the film "examines caregiving as both vocation and compulsion, and the fine, dangerous line between them." I've seen this and it's just too weird and upsetting to enjoy in any way. Some discerning cinephiles may be really into this story & what it's doing, but it's definitely not for everyone. Tread carefully. // Continue Reading ›
"One last mission... We're not going to die out here!" "We've been through worse..." 🐕 Paramount Pictures has launched the first official trailer for Heart of the Beast, a new wilderness survival thriller from action filmmaker David Ayer (of Fury, Suicide Squad, Bright, The Tax Collector, The Beekeeper, A Working Man). This time he snagged Brad Pitt for his leading man taking a break from Statham. This dog movie + survival adventure will arrive in theaters nationwide this September. A former Army Special Forces soldier and his retired combat dog, Odin, attempt to return to civilization after a plane crash out in the Alaskan wilderness. They are forced into a brutal fight for survival against the elements. This new movie is an intense adventure thriller that explores the unbreakable bond between a man and his best friend as they face their greatest battle yet. Starring Brad Pitt and his doggie, with J.K. Simmons and Anna Lambe. Even though it's set in Alaska, this was shot entirely in New Zealand at various national parks & locations in that country. Even though I love the doggie, this looks like a generic macho military man movie. Just watch The Grey instead. // Continue Reading ›

"Wanna go for a drive?" Universal Pictures has unveiled a brand new anniversary trailer for the OG classic The Fast and the Furious, the very first movie that launched this franchise all these years ago. Originally released in June 2001, The Fast and the Furious is celebrating its 25th Anniversary this year & Universal is sending it back into theaters this August. It also had a special screening at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival. "Over the course of 11 films that have stoked passion in an ever-expanding audience and have earned more than $7 billion U.S. at the worldwide box office, Universal's record-smashing, homegrown Fast & Furious Saga has become the studio’s most-profitable and longest-running franchise." Directed by Rob Cohen, The Fast and the Furious stars Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Rick Yune, Chad Lindberg, Johnny Strong, and Ted Levine. The Fast Saga then continued on with many sequels & spin-offs, and they've got the next Fast Forever sequel scheduled for 2028. Many die-hard fans consider the second movie the best, but this first one is still tons of fun. And more raw in the way it actually had to set the stakes and make the driving realistic which was copied after. Catch it on the big screen again. // Continue Reading ›

"We really need you to tell us the whole story..." Magnolia Pictures has unveiled the official trailer for the indie dark comedy I Want Your Sex, the latest one-of-a-kind creation from provocative indie mastermind Gregg Araki, his 12th feature film so far. This first premiered at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year to mostly positive reviews, praising how kinky and weird and bold and adventurous this film is. Nothing else like it out there this year! I also highly recommend it. Set in Los Angeles, young Elliot lands a job for renowned and provocative artist Erika Tracy. His fantasies come true as Erika taps him to become her sexual muse. But things get extra weird when gets caught up in a murder plot and other strange things begin to happen to him, sending him spiraling into the adult world of sex & power. Starring Olivia Wilde & Cooper Hoffman, along with Charli XCX, Daveed Diggs, Mason Gooding, Chase Sui Wonders, Margaret Cho, and Johnny Knoxville. Described as "hilarious, tender, and nuanced in how it tackles the differences between how older and younger generations embrace their sexual desires." This is a superb film! Smart and vivid and totally wild in the ways only Araki knows how to pull off. A must watch 2026 indie flick. // Continue Reading ›
