Still one of my favorite captures. A #fireweed bud #gall midge, Dasineura epilobii, oviposits on a fireweed bud next to an associated #parasitic #wasp (Platygastridae) also ovipositing on the same bud. In situ single shot photo.

One of my favorite activities while at #craft markets or #art shows is to find art of #fireweed, Chamerion angustifolium, and see if the artist unknowingly depicted a flower bud #gall induced by a midge, Dasineura epilobii. Here're some on a fabric print used for a headband by #HappyAK (see arrows).
