My take for today - which I guess is just itching for fighting - is to say that basically we have convinced ourselves that books should be free and be provided to the public as a service, without actually demanding that anyone pay authors for it. And authors keep writing anyway!

There's kind of something where authors are wonderfully loyal to libraries, but in the process they taught their readers to expect to pay nothing for books.

They're not saying "fuck libraries" or anything, it's just that libraries are popular among readers (duh) and it means that less money goes to authors (even if they get paid something for library purchases)
