there are good ways to deploy it (i have fondness for an old Clarksworld story about The Thing that takes a different tact, reinterpreting The Thing as an emissary from another world who catastrophically misunderstands humanity) but these kind of pitches do become a tad repetitive after a while
most of these are just child properties, meant to make sense on an emotional level or thematically, that are then dissected empirically while some dude exclaims, “why… this doesn’t make sense at all! what happens if we take these ideas to their logical conclusion!”
