A brilliant encounter with one of the Hyakumantō darani, a Buddhist invocation printed in Nara (Japan) during the 760s (some 700 years pre-Gutenberg). Commissioned by Empress Shōtoku, it is one of an alleged million copies, each encased in a miniature wooden pagoda.
