A great way to end #worldbeeday! At present there are 1039 bee species/subspecies that have been documented from Canada. It takes a while to track down literature records and the specimens, and to review the taxonomy and nomenclature being used, but it sure is worthwhile! #bees #beesofcanada 🐝
We are excited about our new #research and #collections facility that is in works! www.ctvnews.ca/regina/artic...
A side by side comparison of the #bumblebees #Bombus ternarius and huntii. Do you see that the latter has what looks like a mite attached to its body? #beesofcanada
Though we are still waiting for snow to disappear in much of Saskatchewan, there is some promise of things to come with this Polistes dominula which somehow emerged into our house. I hope to release it outside as soon as things warm up enough! They are beautiful though!
