We've spent decades predicting who will "convert" to psychosis — while conversion rates keep falling and the people in our clinics keep struggling. Our new Viewpoint in JAMA Psychiatry makes the case: it's time to stop counting conversions.
Some of our current members and fellow alumni/collaborators at SIRS!!
Huge congrats to postdoc

New paper in Schizophrenia Research with Drs. Wing-Chung Chang and Elaine Walker. We review how negative symptoms emerge and evolve across the psychosis spectrum. www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...
Congrats to postdoc @victor-pokorny.bsky.social on leading this project in Schizophrenia Bulletin Open! 🎉 Across 800+ young adults, the team found that greater detection of faces and speech in ambiguous stimuli was associated with psychosis risk and perceptual abnormalities.

Conversion is an arbitrary binary imposed on a dimensional, fluctuating clinical reality. Cognitive, negative, and functional symptoms go understudied. We keep refining the wrong metric while patients wait.
