Union members faced flash-bangs & tear gas earlier this week as they attempted to topple steel fencing blocking a main route to the Zocalo, the heart of the city's historic centre (site of an under-construction #FIFA fan zone).
"I am against any form of repression," Mexico President Sheinbaum said.
Several sectors and movements are planning to launch protests and blockades on highways across Mexico, targeting the FIFA World Cup's opening day in Mexico City on June 11.
