Matthew Hartley from EMBL-EBI, UK, demonstrating live at #OME2026 the power of recent updates around the BioImage Archive @bioimagearchive.bsky.social: Seamless image browsing enabled by OME-Zarr, and enhanced data search functionality are boosting the FAIRness of bioimage data significantly. π
Katy Wolstencroft from Amsterdam UMC, who has co-developed the original #FAIR principles, speaking at #OME2026 about national strategy in the Netherlands to make (image) data FAIR, building, among others, on OMERO and BIOMERO to enable research data infrastructure ecosystems at scale.

#OME2026 day 2 opens with Shuichi Onami from RIKEN, Kobe, Japan, speaking about SSBD, an infrastructure for sharing biological dynamics data.
SSBD combines repository functionality based on minimum required metadata with an added-value database containing richly curated datasets for optimal reuse.
#OME2026 is coming to an end. It has been a truly welcoming, motivating, and inspiring experience full of intensive exchange and shaped by an exceptionally open and collaborative spirit.
Grateful for the many insightful discussions, new connections, and shared ideas.
Thank you!
Kiya Govek from The Jackson Laboratory gave the inspiring opening lecture at the #OME2026 meeting, bringing us the community contributor perspective based on her online community survey.
Next up: An Update from the OME Ecosystem
What a delight to listen to Carole Goble's inspiring keynote at #OME2026 on community building, charismatic leadership, and endurance!
A powerful reminder that lasting infrastructures are shaped not only by technology, but especially by the social experience: leveraging trust, thrust & transparency.
