Good, thoughtful thread. And when I talk about AI cheating with my students I stress that cheating is high-risk, doing the work low-risk: If you make any effort at all in my class you'll pass, and if you need a certain grade I'll work with you to help you get it. But if you cheat? You fail.

AI has been foisted upon us, for sure, but one reason it lands with so many is that LLMs *feel like* a solution for loneliness/estrangement/isolation: People who crave feedback and iteration but lack the courage or social capital to get it. Showing a first draft to someone is exposure. /1
