I will always fondly remember my time teaching in Watts. And I know the universe will place me where I am needed.

The irony is the more I become the teacher students value, the less I became someone the administration valued. Still processing that.
I would have preferred to stay, even with all the hardships involved in teaching there. But even when there was a way to retain me, the admin, half of whom are leaving, preferred not to. This at a school where so many are fleeing.
Yesterday wrapped up year 21 in the classroom. I will not be returning to my school. They have decided due to plummeting enrollment to end my position. Teaching high schoolers about cinema all day for 5 years was a dream. The notes I’ve been getting from students have moved me tremendously.
