I wonder if H.R. Giger ever came across Georg Liljevall's fleshy, somewhat unnerving retouched photo illustrations of graptolites? These ones (Monograptus priodon and Isograptus gibberulus) are from the c.1890s, published by Oliver Bulman in the early 1930s #FossilFriday
