A reminder that Brazil banned Twitter for failing to stop the spreading of disinformation. There is nothing stopping the British government from doing the same.
This has nothing to do with stopping crime. It is to do with a global far-right movement, coordinated on X, organised by some of the most powerful men in the world from Silicon Valley to the White House inews.co.uk/opinion/fara...
There last few weeks shows how deeply principled and decent people can be, even when going through the most terrible pain. Their grace stands in stark contrast to those who would exploit their suffering for political gain.
Everyone on X and elsewhere who called for a violent response should be charged with incitement. Everyone involved in the pogrom should be locked up with exemplary sentences. Govt should make it clear that will be the response in future anywhere else. Enough.
The government continuing to post on X gives the media all they need to justify continuing to use X posts in news broadcasts. X becomes agenda-setting in the way front pages did even when most people stopped reading newspapers.
